Roller Blinds Diggers Rest — Custom Made, Professionally Installed, 5-Year Warranty
Diggers Rest sits on Melbourne’s outer western fringe — a suburb that has maintained its semi-rural character while accommodating the steady growth of residential estates that have drawn families and commuters to this part of Victoria. The appeal is straightforward: larger blocks, a relaxed pace, and the kind of open outlook that disappears as you move closer to the city.
At New World of Blinds, we manufacture custom roller blinds at our Campbellfield facility and have been installing across Melbourne’s outer western corridor since 2005. Diggers Rest is part of our regular western schedule, and we understand both the practical requirements and the lifestyle priorities of homes in this part of Melbourne.
Matt and Oz run this business as a family operation. Every roller blind is custom-made at our Campbellfield facility to your exact window dimensions, installed by our own employed team, and backed by our 5-year warranty on both the product and the installation workmanship.
Roller Blinds for Diggers Rest’s Mix of Homes
Diggers Rest properties span a genuine range. Established homes on the larger original lots, newer estate properties in the expanding residential precincts around the township, and the lifestyle properties on rural residential land that characterise the suburb’s outer fringe. Each type has a consistent set of window furnishing requirements: managing the strong western afternoon sun that Diggers Rest’s open plains location delivers in summer, maintaining privacy while preserving the outdoor views that distinguish these properties from more densely built suburbs, and providing quality that performs reliably over years rather than months.
Roller blinds suit every room and every home type in Diggers Rest. For bedrooms, blockout fabrics deliver complete darkness for quality sleep. For living areas facing north or west, sunscreen fabrics filter heat and glare while preserving the rural outlook that is one of the reasons people choose this suburb. For kitchens and service areas, translucent fabrics provide privacy and diffused light without closing the room off.
Roller blinds deliver for Diggers Rest homes:
- Control of strong western afternoon sun through Diggers Rest’s open, unshaded lots.
- View preservation through sunscreen fabrics — maintaining the rural and pastoral outlook while reducing heat and glare.
- Complete bedroom darkness with blockout fabrics for quality sleep across Melbourne’s long summer days.
- UV protection for timber floors, quality rugs, and furnishings in properties that receive unobstructed direct sun.
- Privacy from neighbouring properties and passing traffic on rural roads without drawing the room closed.
- Motorised operation for wide windows and smart home integration in Diggers Rest’s larger newer properties.
Roller Blind Fabric Options
Blockout Roller Blinds
Blockout roller blinds provide complete light elimination when drawn. Essential for bedrooms in Diggers Rest’s outer western location, where Melbourne’s summer sunrise arrives early and the open landscape provides no natural shade to soften the light. For the most complete performance, we recommend a cassette system with side channels that eliminates edge light around the blind as well as through the fabric — the difference between a room that is very dark and one that is genuinely dark enough for quality sleep.
Sunscreen Roller Blinds
Sunscreen roller blinds filter direct glare and UV radiation through an open-weave fabric that maintains an outward view. For Diggers Rest’s west and north-facing living rooms and dining areas with rural outlooks, sunscreen is our most recommended fabric type. The view through a sunscreen blind is real and usable — different from the view through glass but a genuine window onto the landscape rather than a barrier to it. Openness ratings from 1% (strongest filtering, reduced view) to 10% (lighter filtering, clearest view). For Diggers Rest properties with significant western exposure, we typically recommend 3% or 5%.
Translucent Roller Blinds
Translucent blinds soften and diffuse incoming natural light without blocking it. The right choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and secondary spaces where privacy is needed but darkness is not. Available in a wide range of colours and textures including linen-effect fabrics that suit the warm, practical interior palettes of Diggers Rest’s established and newer homes alike.
Motorised Roller Blinds
Motorised roller blinds operate by remote, wall switch, or smart home voice control, and are compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. Particularly relevant for Diggers Rest’s larger properties with wide windows, multiple blind installations across open-plan living areas, or homes where smart home integration is part of the brief. We supply and commission all motorisation as part of the installation.
Outdoor Blinds for Diggers Rest Alfresco Spaces
Diggers Rest’s lifestyle property character makes it one of the most relevant suburbs in the western corridor for Ziptrak® outdoor blinds. Many homes here have generous alfresco areas, decks, and verandahs that face the open landscape — spaces that are highly usable in Melbourne’s mild shoulder seasons but require protection from summer afternoon heat and wind to be comfortable year-round.
Ziptrak® outdoor blinds use a spring-balanced track system that allows the blind to be raised or lowered to any position and held there without locks or clips. They provide a wind and weather barrier for alfresco areas while maintaining the view when partially or fully raised. Compatible with motorised operation. If you are fitting out both the interior and exterior of your Diggers Rest property, a single free in-home visit covers the full scope across both roller blinds and outdoor blinds.

Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs
Do you install roller blinds in Diggers Rest?
Yes. New World of Blinds manufactures and installs custom roller blinds in Diggers Rest and the surrounding outer western suburbs including Sunbury, Toolern Vale, Bulla, Mickleham, and Craigieburn. All blinds are made at our Campbellfield facility and installed by our own team. Call 0422 786 077 to book a free in-home measure and quote.
What roller blind fabric best preserves the rural view from a Diggers Rest property?
Sunscreen roller blinds are our most recommended option for Diggers Rest homes with rural outlooks facing north or west. The open-weave fabric filters direct glare and UV while maintaining a real, usable view through the blind — unlike a translucent or blockout fabric that obscures the landscape entirely. For west-facing rooms with significant afternoon sun exposure in summer, we recommend a low-openness rating of 3% or 5% that provides strong heat and UV filtering while keeping the view intact.
Do you also supply outdoor blinds for Diggers Rest alfresco areas?
Yes. In addition to interior roller blinds, we supply and install Ziptrak® outdoor blinds for alfresco areas, decks, and verandahs. Diggers Rest’s lifestyle property character makes outdoor blinds a popular addition — they extend the usable season of alfresco spaces by providing protection from afternoon heat and wind while maintaining the view when partially raised. A single in-home visit covers both interior and outdoor blind requirements.
What is the difference between blockout and sunscreen roller blinds?
Blockout roller blinds provide complete light elimination — ideal for bedrooms where darkness is needed for sleep quality. Sunscreen roller blinds filter glare and UV while maintaining an outward view — ideal for living rooms and rooms with valued outlooks. For west-facing rooms in Diggers Rest that receive strong afternoon sun, many homeowners use both: sunscreen blinds in the living areas to manage heat while preserving the view, and blockout blinds in the bedrooms for sleep quality.
Can roller blinds be motorised in a Diggers Rest property?
Yes. Motorised roller blinds compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit are available. Particularly practical for larger Diggers Rest properties with wide windows, multiple blinds, or smart home integration. We supply and commission all motorisation as part of installation.
