Sheer Curtains Bulleen — Custom Made, Expert Installed, 5-Year Warranty
Bulleen is one of Melbourne’s most desirable inner-eastern suburbs — a tree-lined corridor along the Yarra where established homes sit on generous blocks and the standard of renovation is genuinely high. Homeowners here invest carefully in their properties, and window furnishings are no exception. At New World of Blinds, we’ve been supplying and installing custom sheer curtains for homes across Bulleen and the broader Manningham area since 2005 — from heritage brick homes being sympathetically renovated to contemporary knockdown-rebuilds with floor-to-ceiling glazing and architecturally considered interiors.
We are a family-owned business run by Matt and Oz, and every curtain we supply is custom-made at our own Campbellfield manufacturing facility. Nothing is imported, nothing is off-the-shelf. Every sheer curtain is measured precisely for your windows, manufactured to those exact dimensions, and installed by our own experienced team — not subcontractors. We back every job with our full 5-year warranty on both the product and the installation.
Wave/ S-Fold Curtains, Bulleen
Wave/S-Fold curtains are one of the most popular types of curtains. Wave/S-fold curtains are the curtains that look just like a wave or a long S pattern that continues for the length of the window/wall and its covering. The soft flowing wave effect allows the fabric to drape stunningly, and the overall appearance creates a modern, trending look to your room/covering. Wave/S-fold curtains add a touch of class and elegance to your home.
Pleated Curtains
Eyelet Curtains
Eyelet curtains are where the top of the curtain has round eyelets or grommets pressed into the fabric. The curtain is then threaded onto a track/pole that threads through each of the eyelets in a wave like formation.
Why Sheer Curtains Suit Bulleen’s Homes So Well
Bulleen’s housing stock has several characteristics that make sheer curtains a particularly natural choice. Many of the suburb’s renovated and architect-designed homes feature large north-facing glazing designed to maximise natural light and connect indoor living spaces to garden areas. This design philosophy — light, open, and connected — is exactly what sheer curtains support. They allow natural light to fill a room in a soft, diffused way without the glare and heat gain that unfiltered glass creates, and they maintain the open, airy feeling that Bulleen homeowners invest significantly to achieve.
Many of the suburb’s established brick homes also have rooms with multiple windows and a strong relationship to the garden and outdoor living areas. Sheer curtains on these windows provide a layer of daytime privacy from neighbouring properties without closing off the garden view or making interior spaces feel smaller — a balance that harder window treatments like roller blinds or venetians don’t always strike as well.
For Bulleen homes, sheer curtains deliver:
- Soft, diffused natural light that preserves the open, connected feel of architect-designed interiors
- UV protection for quality timber floors, rugs, artwork, and furniture from sun damage
- Daytime privacy from neighbouring properties without closing off garden views
- Reduction of solar heat gain through large north-facing glazing in summer
- An elegant, considered aesthetic that complements high-quality interior finishes
- Full layering capability with blockout curtains for complete day-to-night control
- Motorised operation for floor-to-ceiling or high-set windows where manual operation is impractical.
Sheer Curtain Styles for Bulleen Homes
We offer four heading styles for sheer curtains. For Bulleen’s established and renovated homes, the choice of heading style should complement the overall interior direction — whether that’s a contemporary renovation, a sympathetically updated heritage home, or a contemporary knockdown-rebuild. Our team brings physical fabric samples to your Bulleen home during the free measure and quote visit.
S-Fold / Wave Curtains — The Architectural Choice
S-Fold curtains are our most installed style and consistently the first choice for Bulleen’s architecturally considered homes. The track-mounted clip system creates a continuous, perfectly uniform wave across the full width of the curtain — a clean, precise, and inherently contemporary finish that suits high-ceiling rooms, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and the kind of interior where every detail has been thought through. Unlike gathered or pleated styles, S-Fold sheers have no variation in fold depth, so they look equally composed at any draw position and read as genuinely designed rather than decorative. They integrate seamlessly with motorised curtain tracks — a natural pairing for Bulleen homes with smart home systems or difficult-to-reach high windows.
Eyelet Curtains
Eyelet curtains thread onto a decorative rod through metal grommets pressed into the fabric header, creating a relaxed, looping wave that suits rooms where a warmer, more casual feel is preferred. In Bulleen homes, eyelet sheer curtains work well in study rooms, secondary bedrooms, and informal living spaces where the brief is comfortable and inviting rather than architecturally precise. A linen or fine cotton eyelet sheer in a warm neutral suits the established, garden-connected character of many Bulleen homes beautifully.
Pleated Curtains
Pleated heading styles — pinch pleat, pencil pleat, or box pleat — create a structured, formal curtain silhouette that suits dining rooms, studies, and formal sitting rooms in Bulleen’s larger established homes. The defined pleating holds its shape and drapes in a classic, tailored way that complements period-influenced architecture and formal interior schemes. For heritage brick homes in Bulleen being carefully renovated rather than rebuilt, a pleated sheer in a fine voile or silk-blend fabric can be exactly the right finishing touch.
Linen Sheer Curtains
Linen sheer curtains are among our most requested fabrics for inner-eastern Melbourne homes and consistently popular in Bulleen. Heavier in hand than standard voile with a naturally textured, open weave, linen sheers bring warmth, tactile richness, and an organic authenticity to a room that synthetic alternatives simply cannot deliver. They suit both contemporary renovations and established character homes — pairing especially well with timber floors, exposed brick, stone benchtops, and the earthy, natural palettes prevalent in Bulleen’s most considered interiors. Available in warm white, raw linen, warm cream, and soft sage.
Layering Sheer Curtains with Blockout Curtains
The most versatile and complete window treatment system we install in Bulleen homes combines sheer curtains on an inner track with blockout curtains on the outer track. This double-track approach delivers complete, independent control over light and privacy throughout the day and night — and it’s a system that suits Bulleen’s mix of large windows and garden-facing rooms particularly well.
During the day, the sheers alone filter direct sunlight into a soft, ambient glow that keeps living rooms and kitchens comfortable while maintaining the open, connected feel to the garden. In the evening, drawing the blockout layer across delivers complete privacy from neighbouring properties and any ambient garden or street light. For bedrooms — particularly those facing east in Bulleen’s established streetscapes — the blockout layer provides complete darkness regardless of the season.
The layered system also contributes meaningfully to a home’s thermal performance. Two layers of fabric across large glazed areas reduce heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter — reducing the load on hydronic or ducted heating and cooling systems that many Bulleen homes rely on.

If you are working with an architect or interior designer on a Bulleen project, please contact us to discuss the brief and lead times. Call 0422 786 077 or email nwob@windowslive.com.
What sheer curtain style suits an architect-designed or renovated Bulleen home?
S-Fold (Wave) curtains are consistently our first recommendation for architecturally designed and renovated homes in Bulleen. The uniform, continuous wave is a clean, precise, and inherently contemporary finish that suits high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and interiors where every detail is considered. Linen sheer fabrics in warm neutrals are also particularly popular in Bulleen — they bring organic warmth and texture to interiors that use natural materials throughout. Our team will show you both S-Fold and eyelet styles with real fabric samples during your in-home consultation.
How much do sheer curtains cost in Bulleen?
Cost depends on the fabric, heading style, window dimensions, and number of windows. Because New World of Blinds manufactures its own curtains at our Campbellfield facility, our pricing reflects direct wholesale rates without a retail margin. For Bulleen homeowners undertaking a full renovation, we provide a fully itemised written quote covering every window in the brief. Can sheer curtains be motorised for high or floor-to-ceiling windows?
Yes. New World of Blinds installs motorised curtain tracks compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. Motorised S-Fold sheer curtains are a popular choice for Bulleen homes with floor-to-ceiling glazing, high-set windows, or smart home systems — where manual operation is impractical or where seamless, quiet operation is part of the design brief. We supply and commission all motorisation ourselves as part of the installation.
