Sheer Curtains Kealba
Kealba is a compact, well-established suburb in Melbourne’s outer west — a tight-knit community of post-war brick homes where families have put down roots and where the standard of homeownership reflects genuine community pride. At New World of Blinds, we manufacture custom sheer curtains at our Campbellfield facility and have been supplying and installing throughout the outer western suburbs since 2005. Kealba’s established family homes are exactly the kind of properties we install in regularly — and we understand what these homeowners are looking for: quality that lasts, professional service, and a result that genuinely improves the home.
As a family-owned business run by Matt and Oz, we handle the entire process ourselves. Every sheer curtain is custom-made at our Campbellfield facility to your exact window measurements, installed by our own team — not subcontractors — and backed by our full 5-year warranty.
Wave/ S-Fold Curtains Kealba
Wave/S-Fold curtains are one of the most popular types of curtains. Wave/S-fold curtains are the curtains that look just like a wave or a long S pattern that continues for the length of the window/wall and its covering. The soft flowing wave effect allows the fabric to drape stunningly, and the overall appearance creates a modern, trending look to your room/covering. Wave/S-fold curtains add a touch of class and elegance to your home.
Pleated Curtains
Eyelet Curtains
Eyelet curtains are where the top of the curtain has round eyelets or grommets pressed into the fabric. The curtain is then threaded onto a track/pole that threads through each of the eyelets in a wave like formation.
Why Sheer Curtains Are the Right Upgrade for Kealba Homes
For Kealba homeowners upgrading their window furnishings, sheer curtains deliver a significant improvement over tired or worn roller blinds, venetian blinds, or off-the-shelf curtains that have been in place for years. The lightweight, open-weave fabric transforms the quality of natural light in a room — diffusing harsh direct sun into a soft, even glow that makes established living areas feel genuinely refreshed and welcoming. At the same time, the semi-transparent fabric provides practical daytime privacy from neighbouring properties and the street without drawing the room closed.
For Kealba’s post-war brick homes with established north and west-facing living rooms, sheer curtains address the consistent practical challenges that come with these orientations. North-facing rooms receive strong midday sun that creates glare and UV fading. West-facing rooms receive intense afternoon sun in Melbourne’s summers. Sheer curtains filter both effectively while keeping rooms bright and connected to natural light throughout the day.
Sheer curtains deliver for Kealba homes:
- A genuine upgrade from worn or dated window coverings without a full renovation outlay.
- Soft, diffused natural light in north and west-facing living areas and bedrooms.
- Daytime privacy from the street and neighbouring properties.
- UV protection for established floors, carpets, and long-standing furniture from sun fading.
- Solar heat gain reduction on north and west-facing windows in summer.
- A warm, quality finish that suits Kealba’s well-maintained established homes.
- Full layering with blockout curtains for complete day-to-night control.
Sheer Curtain Styles for Kealba Homes
We offer four heading styles. Our team brings physical fabric samples to your Kealba home during the free measure and quote visit.
S-Fold / Wave Curtains
S-Fold curtains are our most installed style across Melbourne and a strong choice for Kealba homes that have been updated or renovated with more contemporary living areas. The track-mounted clip system creates a continuous, perfectly uniform wave that suits both updated rooms and the clean lines of a well-maintained established interior. Installed on a ceiling-mounted track, S-Fold sheers make rooms feel taller and more considered — a meaningful upgrade from the dated blinds they replace. They integrate naturally with motorised tracks for homeowners setting up smart home systems.
Eyelet Curtains
Eyelet curtains thread onto a decorative rod through metal grommets in the fabric header, creating a relaxed, looping wave. For Kealba’s family homes where the brief is warmth and comfort rather than architectural precision, eyelet sheers in natural voile or linen fabrics suit informal living rooms and bedrooms where everyday family life happens. They are easy to operate and maintain — practical qualities for busy households.
Linen Sheer Curtains
Linen sheer curtains are one of our most popular fabrics for established outer western Melbourne family homes, and a strong choice for Kealba. The heavier hand and naturally textured weave bring organic warmth and durability that lightweight voile cannot match. For Kealba’s brick homes with established interiors, linen sheers in warm white or natural linen tones add the right warmth and texture. They are also highly durable — a genuine long-term investment for families who want window furnishings that don’t need replacing every few years.
Pleated Curtains
Pleated heading styles create a classic, structured curtain silhouette suited to formal dining rooms and sitting areas in established homes where a traditional, tailored finish is preferred in specific rooms.
Layering Sheer Curtains with Blockout Curtains
The double-track layered system — sheer curtains on the inner track, blockout curtains on the outer — is our most recommended window treatment approach for Kealba family homes. Sheers handle daytime light and privacy; blockout curtains deliver complete darkness and privacy in the evening and overnight.
For north-facing living rooms, draw the sheers during the day for soft filtered light and daytime privacy. Draw the blockout in the evening. For bedrooms facing east or north that receive early morning light, the blockout layer is the most effective sleep solution available. Because both layers are manufactured at our Campbellfield facility, they are quality-checked together before arriving at your Kealba home.

Can sheer curtains replace old venetian blinds or worn curtains in an established Kealba home?
Yes — and this is one of the most common briefs we receive from Kealba homeowners. Custom sheer curtains are a significant upgrade from dated venetian blinds, worn roller blinds, or off-the-shelf curtains that have lost their quality over years of use. Our team measures your existing windows precisely and manufactures replacement curtains to the exact dimensions, so the result looks and performs far better than what it replaces. We back every installation with a 5-year warranty.
What sheer curtain style suits an established Kealba family home?
For Kealba’s established brick homes, linen sheer curtains are our most recommended fabric for their durability and organic warmth. For heading style, S-Fold sheers suit any rooms that have been updated with a more contemporary finish; eyelet sheers on a decorative rod suit informal living rooms and bedrooms where warmth and comfort are the priority. Our team brings real samples to your home during the free measure visit.
Can I layer sheer curtains with blockout curtains in a Kealba home?
Yes. The double-track system — sheer curtains on the inner track, blockout curtains on the outer — is our most recommended setup for Kealba family homes. Sheers handle daytime light and privacy; blockout curtains deliver complete darkness and privacy in the evening. Both layers are manufactured at our Campbellfield facility and installed together in a single visit.
Do sheer curtains help with north and west-facing sun in Kealba?
Yes. For Kealba homes with north-facing living rooms or west-facing bedrooms, sheer curtains filter and diffuse direct sunlight, reducing glare and cutting solar heat gain. For maximum thermal benefit, the double-track layered system creates a meaningful insulating barrier that reduces heat in summer and retains warmth in winter.
